PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is off to a roaring start on Xbox One. After spending just one month in Xbox Game Preview, the popular battle royale has passed 3 million players.
Aaron Greenberg, Xbox’s General Manager of Marketing, revealed just how well PUBG is doing in a post on Xbox Wire. Only 48 hours after its release in December, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds hit 1 million players. Jumping to 3 million after the holiday season is impressive for a title in Game Preview. Technical and performance issues certainly aren’t hindering a majority of people’s interest.
A few weeks ago following its 1.0 launch on Steam it was revealed that PUBG crossed 30 million total players across both Xbox One and PC. It joins games like Overwatch and Destiny which also reached 30 million and 20 million players in under a year, respectively.
Greenberg states that players can look forward to regular updates rolling out for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One. Recent updates already improved performance, added the ability to play Squad mode without the need to matchmake, and added first-person support for solo and duo squads.
Planned future updates include additional game optimization and the new Miramar map. You can keep up to date on these through PUBG’s official forums.
You can purchase PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds from the Microsoft Store for $29.99.
