Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Brings Gothic Action to PS5 in 2026

On June 4, 2025, during Sony’s State of Play, 505 Games and ArtPlay unveiled Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, the next entry in the Bloodstained series. Set for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this 2.5D side-scrolling action RPG introduces players to a new chapter in the gothic universe established by Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

Set in 16th-century England, the game follows Leonard, a young Black Wolves apprentice, and Alexander, the last surviving knight of the White Stags. Together, they aim to infiltrate the Ethereal Castle, a massive structure plagued by demonic forces and ruled by the Demon Lord Elias. Elias is guarded by six Sanguinaries, each possessing unique and formidable abilities.

Players can switch between Leonard and Alexander at any time, utilizing their distinct skills to navigate the castle’s treacherous environments. The Ethereal Castle, described as the largest map in the Bloodstained series, features gothic halls, dark caverns, and deadly traps. Exploration rewards players with powerful relics, magical abilities, and resources for crafting upgrades. Each character can be equipped with unique armor and weapons, allowing for personalized combat strategies.

The game also introduces fully voiced interactions in both English and Japanese, enhancing the narrative experience. The Scarlet Engagement is directed by Shutaro Ida and produced by Koji Igarashi, releasing in 2026.
