Google’s Chrome 74 is rolling out to Windows PCs, and the firm is finally implementing its dark theme for the platform after first debuting on macOS.

It’s not available to all users yet, only a limited number on users on 74 will get this at first. If you’re one of those users, then the Chrome browser would respect your Windows theme setting and enable dark mode for you correspondingly.

On the other hand, if you aren’t one of the few to receive the dark mode update: you can force it on with the following instructions.

  • Right click on its desktop shortcut and select properties.
  • In the Target Field, after chrome.exe after a space, add -force-dark-mode.
  • Click Apply to save changes. Run Chrome

Chrome 74 also comes with a bevy of security fixes as well. It should hit all Windows PCs over the next week.
