We posted recently that Google has confirmed that they are working on a Dark Mode for Chrome for Windows 10.

It turns out the capability is already there in the Canary builds of Chrome, accessible via a command line flag.

To access this new, darker look right now, download Chrome Canary and:

  1. Right click on its desktop shortcut and select properties,
  2. In the Target Field, after chrome.exe after a space, add -force-dark-mode, click Apply to save changes.
  3. Run Chrome

The implementation is likely early, with many more design tweaks to come, but the presence of the feature suggests it should not be too long before it arrives for mainstream users.
