Xbox used its June 11 Showcase to introduce Aniimo, an open-world action-RPG launching in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Cloud (via Xbox Play Anywhere). Today, the development team opened sign-ups for a closed beta on PC later this summer.
In Aniimo, you track, capture, and fight alongside creatures called Aniimo. Each creature carries unique behaviors and powers. For example, Budclaw is a shy, crab-like Aniimo that digs well. It loses balance if it bumps into rocks, making it easier to catch. Nimbi resembles a cloud-sheep. It soars high, yet during storms it acts unpredictably .
The team focused on building a living world. As players explore Idyll, they’ll find new Aniimo species. Every area reveals fresh traits and personalities. You can raise, battle, and evolve these creatures while mapping their behaviors.

A core mechanic stands out: “twining.” Players form a spiritual bond with an Aniimo. This link lets you take control and literally become that creature. You can explore or battle in their form. That choice immerses you deeper into their abilities and their habits .
The game supports multiplayer in the shared open world. You join friends or solo adventurers. You choose exploration paths, engage in battles, and shape your own narrative—all with real-time fights or by twining with Aniimo. That duality adds flexibility and variety to how you play .
