On June 10, 2025, Apple released iOS 26, bringing a set of significant updates to CarPlay. Drivers now see five key improvements aimed at making in-car experiences smoother and more useful.

First, CarPlay now supports instrument cluster widgets. These widgets give quick access to navigation, media, and vehicle data right on the dashboard, so drivers can check directions or music without shifting focus from the road. Apple has also introduced a new voice messaging feature. Drivers can send and receive audio messages hands-free, using Siri, which helps keep attention on driving.

Third, CarPlay now offers expanded parking information. The system can show real-time parking availability, pricing, and even let users reserve spots directly from the interface. This addresses a frequent pain point for drivers in busy areas.

Fourth, Apple has improved EV charging integration. CarPlay can display charging station locations, availability, and estimated charging times for electric vehicles, making it easier for EV owners to plan longer trips.

Finally, the update brings a redesigned interface for connected services. Apps for climate control, tire pressure, and other car features are now easier to access and control through CarPlay, reducing the need to interact with separate vehicle menus.

These new features are available to users updating to iOS 26 starting today. Apple’s move signals a push to make CarPlay more central to the driving experience, with a focus on convenience and safety.
