May 30 marks the Xbox Series X|S debut of Eternal Evil, a first-person survival horror game from indie developer Red Spot Sylphina. The game leans hard into the genre’s 90s roots, offering slow movement, limited resources, and tank controls. You’ll reload manually, save at typewriters, and die often. There’s no tutorial. No waypoints. Just you and whatever’s lurking in the shadows.
Eternal Evil doesn’t shy away from punishing players. Every decision matters. Health is scarce, ammo even scarcer. Players need to solve logic-based puzzles while avoiding brutal enemy encounters. If you get careless, you’ll die quickly, and repeatedly.

Originally released in Early Access on PC in 2022, the game reached its full 1.0 version in 2023. The console launch brings the full experience to Xbox, with full controller support and performance tuned for Series X|S.
There’s no autosave. You’ll have to find save points and earn your progress. That design choice forces players to think before acting, bringing tension back into survival horror. For fans of Resident Evil’s early days, the game offers exactly the kind of challenge they’ve missed.
