After five years in development, Steel Seed has launched on Xbox Series X|S, introducing players to Zoe. The robotic protagonist is crafted to evoke human empathy. Developed by Italy-based studio Storm in a Teacup, the game delves into Zoe’s awakening in an AI-controlled facility, devoid of memories, accompanied only by a drone named Koby.

Steel Seed’s development team focused on balancing Zoe’s mechanical form with emotional resonance. Through deliberate design choices in animation and narrative, they aimed to create a character that players could connect with, despite her uncertain identity. This approach influences not just Zoe’s appearance but also how players interact with the game world and make decisions.

The game offers a single-player stealth-action experience, set in a dark sci-fi environment. Players guide Zoe through a hostile underground facility, confronting challenges that test both strategy and empathy. The game’s design encourages reflection on themes of identity and resilience, positioning Zoe as a bridge between machine and humanity.
