As expected Razer announced their new phone, dedicated to gaming, today.

The Razer phone features the world’s first 120 Hz screen with Ultramotion technology, which syncs the GPU signals with the screen, similar to NVidia’s gsync technology, preventing lagging or screen tearing.

The screen is 5.7 inch, 2K with wide colour gamut and is manufactured by Sharp Igzo.

It also features cinematic sound, with Dolby Atmos and THX certification, the first phone with this.

It also has large dual front-facing speakers and a 24 bit DAC for headphones.

For performance, it has 8 GB of RAM, Qualcomm 835 processor, and faster benchmarks than the Samsung Galaxy S8, all powered by a  4000 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quickcharge 4+ (which lets the phone charge to 85% in only one hour) which can offer up to 7 hours of gaming, 12.5 hours of video and 63.5 hours of music. It has 64 GB of storage expandable by microSD card.

The camera features dual 12-megapixel sensors with seamless fusion for smooth zooming from wide angle to telephoto with a quick pinch on the display and uses a dual-tone flash.

The Razer phone features Game booster can fine-tune features such as notifications for each game, optimize a game for battery life or performance and store and restore them dynamically.

Razer says they have worked with ISVs to create 2K-optimized games for the phone.

One example is Tencent’s Arena of Valor, which they call the first competitive multi-player game for phones. They say it offers a PC-level experience on mobile.

Other optimized games include:

  • Final Fantasy® XV Pocket Edition” from Square Enix
  • “Gear.Club” from Eden Games
  • “Lineage 2: Revolution” from Netmarble Games Corporation
  • “Old School RuneScape™” from Jagex Limited

  • “Tekken™” from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe
