Middle-earth: Shadow of War was one of the first games confirmed to receive enhancements for the Xbox One X and now Warner Bros. and Monolith Productions have detailed just what those enhancements entail. In an infographic posted by the companies, we see that the game will feature two primary modes for those who favor quality or resolution (via Xbox Achievements).

It appears that the Favor Resolution mode will allow players to always game in 4K by targeting the highest resolution possible if you only care about the graphics. The Favor Quality mode is what’s really interesting. In this mode, players will see increased draw distances, increased texture detail, improved shadow and lighting quality, increased vegetation, improved ambient occlusion, higher polygon counts, and texture filtering improvements. Those are some huge benefits to the overall experience.

It’s great that Monolith and Warner Bros. are letting players choose what suits them best. Not everyone has a 4K television (though those with 1080p screens will see improved images thanks to supersampling) so these people will still be able take advantage of the Xbox One X’s power in a way that benefits them the most. Not only that, but choices are always good, especially when it comes to the games we love.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is out now so be sure to pick up your copy. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning you purchase it digitally once and can play it on both Xbox One and Windows 10.
