On June 3, 2025, Google introduced a significant update to NotebookLM, its AI-driven note-taking application. Users can now share their notebooks publicly via a link, enabling broader access to AI-generated content such as summaries, FAQs, and audio overviews.
Previously, sharing notebooks required adding individual email addresses, limiting collaboration. With the new feature, users can click the “Share” button in the top-right corner of a notebook, select “Anyone with the link,” and distribute the URL through various channels like email or social media.

Public viewers can interact with the notebook’s AI features, asking questions and exploring generated content. However, they cannot edit the original material. For collaborative editing, users can still invite specific individuals via email and assign appropriate permissions.
NotebookLM, launched in 2023, assists users in organizing and understanding information from various sources, including documents, slides, and YouTube videos. The app’s AI capabilities allow it to generate summaries and even podcast-style discussions based on the content provided.
This update aligns NotebookLM with other Google Workspace tools like Docs and Sheets, which have long supported public link sharing. By expanding sharing options, Google aims to enhance collaboration and accessibility for users across different domains, from education to professional environments.
The public sharing feature is now available to all NotebookLM users, making the app a versatile tool for AI-assisted research and collaboration.
