Google is expanding its AI image editing features by bringing them to the Gemini app. Earlier this year, the company introduced native AI image editing through AI Studio. After receiving positive feedback, Google is now offering similar tools to more users through Gemini.

With this update, users can easily edit AI-generated images or personal photos uploaded from their phone or computer. The editing tools let users change backgrounds, replace objects, add new elements, and more. For instance, someone can upload their photo and ask Gemini to show them with different hair colors.

The new editing experience is simple and flexible. It allows users to combine text and images to get more engaging responses. For example, users can ask Gemini to write a bedtime story and include matching illustrations of dragons or castles.

To ensure transparency, all images created or edited through Gemini will include SynthID — an invisible digital watermark. Google is also testing a visible watermark to clearly mark AI-generated images.

The feature is rolling out gradually starting today. Over the coming weeks, it will expand to users in most countries and in over 45 languages. This move makes advanced AI image editing more accessible to everyday users through the Gemini platform.
