Remember when Google tried to take on Microsoft Whiteboard with Jamboard? You may never heard of the name, but apparently, the search engine giant is killing the service next year.

In an updated blog, Google is working with FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro to bring better whiteboarding experiences to Google Workspace instead. Customers have told Google that these tools have more advanced features, such as infinite canvas, use case templates and voting.

Google also announced that its partner, Avocor, will be delivering two next-generation video conferencing and whiteboarding devices, the Series One Board 65 and Desk 27, in late 2023 and early 2024.

These devices will have integrations for FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro, so users will have a choice of three robust third-party whiteboarding experiences inside a Meet call, as well as new options to use them outside a call as standalone whiteboarding tools.

Starting from September 30, 2024, you will no longer be able to use your Jamboard device. If you have an upcoming 12-month subscription renewal for your Jamboard device, you can renew it for a term that will end on September 30, 2024, at a prorated cost.

On October 1, you won’t be able to create new or existing Jams or any platform, including the web, iOS, and Android – before shutting down completely on December 31.
