June 8, 2025 – At the Xbox Games Showcase, Activision confirmed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, marking the first time the series delivers back-to-back Black Ops titles. Developers Treyarch and Raven Software unveiled a cinematic teaser that picks up after Black Ops 6 in the year 2035.

The trailer blends surreal visuals- shifting cityscapes, TV screens flickering with eerie laughter, dataflecked butterflies – with a clear narrative hook. Players will again control David Mason, hero of Black Ops 2 and 4, now up against an enemy using fear as a weapon. The shift from the 1990s era conflicts to near-future warfare, introducing sci-fi gear and psychological combat.

Other recent gaming news –

Activision confirmed that Black Ops 7 includes solo and co-op campaign modes. This also includes a fresh multiplayer suite and a round-based Zombies mode that continues the Dark Aether storyline. The game will launch on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC. It will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Treyarch confirmed key cast returns: Milo Ventimiglia as David Mason, Michael Rooker as Mike Harper, and Kiernan Shipka debuts as new character Emma Kagan . The trailer also teases the return of Raúl Menéndez, likely as an AI antagonist, due to his canon death in BO2 .

Activision plans a full reveal later this summer, including gameplay deep dives and season details.
