Cryptmaster dropped its first major update on May 29 to mark the game’s one-year anniversary. The free patch brings a new game mode, higher difficulty option, and a tease for what’s next.

The new Deathmatch mode pits up to four players against each other in fast-paced battles using the game’s signature spell-typing combat. Each player must type out words to unleash spells, making quick thinking just as important as fast fingers. The mode supports local and online play.

For solo players, the update adds Hardcore Mode. Enemies hit harder, save points vanish, and one wrong move can end the run. It’s built for veterans who want more challenge.

The update also includes quality-of-life fixes, bug squashing, and polish throughout. Developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams from Paul Hart Games and Akupara Games confirmed they’ve started work on new content beyond this update. The in-game final cutscene even hints at what’s coming next.

Cryptmaster originally launched on PC and Xbox on May 9, 2024. The game stands out for its unique mechanic where players type to interact with the world, fight enemies, and uncover secrets. With this update, the team shows they’re still listening, and building.
