On May 29, Xbox will launch Blades of Fire, a third-person action game focused on precision strikes and punishing finishers. This week, Xbox offered a deep look at how players can master its fast-paced combat.

The combat system rewards sharp reactions and timing. Players can chain light and heavy attacks to break enemy stances, then unleash brutal executions. The devs built the fighting system around three core ideas: control, pressure, and timing. You’ll need to block, dodge, and counter at the right moments, going in swinging won’t work for long.

Each weapon changes your playstyle. The Sword and Dagger favor speed and combo chains. The Greatsword hits slower but deals heavy damage. The Katana balances both. Players can swap weapons mid-fight, creating strategic layers in every encounter.

Stamina also plays a key role. Every attack, block, and dodge costs stamina, forcing players to think before acting. Enemies use the same rules, making fights feel fair and deadly.

Xbox says players should prepare for a “skill-first” experience. Button mashing won’t save you. Blades of Fire launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 29, bringing weighty combat and aggressive AI to the spotlight.
