At CES 2019, Acer today announced the updated Swift 7 (SF714-52T) with ultra-narrow bezels(just 2.57 mm) making it virtually borderless. This new Swift 7 with 14-inch Full HD 1920×1080 touch IPS display comes with an impressive 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It is also thin and ultra-light, weighs just 890 grams and measures under 1 cm thin at 9.95 mm.
Despite being incredibly thin and lightweight, the Swift 7 is durable, thanks to the usage of magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum alloys which are two to four times stronger than standard aluminum alloys at the same thickness, yet are up to 20 to 35 percent lighter to keep the laptop under 1 kg. Acer is also using Corning Gorilla Glass 6 to protect the display.
The Swift 7 is powered by the latest 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8500Y processor, up to 512GB PCIe SSD storage and up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Acer claims that it will offer 10 hours of battery life.
Acer has included two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 and a DisplayPort 1.2. The Intel Wireless-AC Wi-Fi is capable of Gigabit speed and features 2×2 MU-MIMO technology. Due to its thin bezels, the Swift 7 features a push-to-open camera that has a 55- degree angle of view, and features high-dynamic-range (HDR).
The Acer Swift 7 (SF714-52T) will be available with 8GB or 16GB of LDDR3 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of SSD PCIe storage. The new Swift 7 will be available in North America in May, starting at $1,699; in EMEA in April, starting at €1,799; and in April in China, starting at ¥14,999.
