Meta AI is finally launching in new regions: the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Meta said that its Llama 3.2-powered AI assistant is now available to millions of users in countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and more, with access to AI tools in Arabic across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

The rollout also includes text and image generation, with Meta promising future multimodal features such as AI image editing and personalized portraits.

“Designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, Meta AI requires no downloads or sign-ups โ€“ itโ€™s simply there, ready to assist, whenever you see its signature blue circle icon,” Meta says.

Meta AI is now available in 42 countries, reaching 700 million users, though its features vary by region. Some countries, mostly in the European Union (EU), have limited access due to data privacy regulations.

Meta has been pushing big for its AI, so much so that it has committed $65 billion to AI investments. The company has recently defended its massive spending in AI, alongside Microsoft, despite the market disruption caused by cheaper Chinese alternatives like DeepSeek.

And when you think that things couldn’t go from bad to worse, Meta was thrown under the bus last year for reportedly planning to introduce AI-generated bots as “users” on Facebook and Instagram to boost engagement across its platforms, which have over 3 billion users.

These AI personas will have profiles, bios, and content-generation abilities but will be clearly labeled as AI-generated.
