PlayStation confirmed today that Undead Citadel will launch on PS VR2 next week, on June 26. Developed by Dark Curry, the title blends gritty, physics-driven melee combat with classic zombie horror. The game previously launched on PC VR, but this marks its console debut.
Unlike arcade-style slashers, Undead Citadel focuses on weighty, realistic weapon swings. You’ll block, parry, and smash your way through rotting enemies using swords, axes, maces, bows, and explosives. Timing and movement matter, and hence, mashing buttons won’t get you far here. The developers built the combat system around physical reactions, so your attacks carry momentum and enemies stagger or break apart based on impact.

The game includes a full single-player campaign with a focus on atmosphere and environmental storytelling. There’s no voiceover-heavy exposition. Instead, you’ll pick up clues through ruins, journal entries, and ambient detail while progressing through a dark fantasy setting filled with the undead. For players who want faster-paced action, the game also offers Horde and Armory modes.
PS VR2’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers support every weapon and impact, giving each fight more weight. The team optimized the game for Sony’s hardware, aiming for smooth performance and sharp visuals.
With Undead Citadel, Dark Curry doesn’t chase polish or perfection. It leans into grime, grit, and impact. Expect rough edges but also a few genuinely satisfying zombie kills when it launches June 26.
