Nintendo has revealed that Mario Kart World, the latest entry in the beloved racing series, will release alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. This ambitious title had the series first iteration as an open-world format, letting players freely explore and switch between the environment and races on their own will.

Among additional options the game introduces to perform stunts at high speed, such as “Charge Jump,” or “Rewind” which allow a solo player to undo errors mid race.

Multiplayer support has been expanded to include up to 24 players online, along with local wireless play for eight and traditional four-player split-screen. The roster exceeds 50 characters, including new faces like Peepa and Pokey, and features both new tracks and reimagined classics.

Priced at $79.99, Mario Kart World will also be offered in a limited-time Switch 2 bundle for $499.99, available for pre-order starting April 24. As Nintendo pivots toward the future of gaming, Mario Kart World is poised to be a groundbreaking title for the franchise.
