Microsoft’s Surface devices remain one of the best PCs on sale right now, and even Apple’s feeling the squeeze .

In a new blog post announcing the recent sales success of the Surface, Microsoft threw shade at the controversial new Macbook. The firm highlighted the “disappointment of the new MacBook Pro – especially among professionals” as one of the reasons more and more people switched to Surface.

While it would be easy to write this off as sales bluster, there has been a palpable excitement about Microsoft’s Surface devices in the past few months, one that has not been replicated by Apple’s Macbook Pro due to reasons like the loss of legacy connectors, lack of hardware compatibility with the iPhone, and the lack of the adoption of what many see as the future of PCs – touchscreens. With all that taken into account, Microsoft’s Surface still came out on top both in technological capability and in media hype.

More people are switching from Macs to Surface than ever before. Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever, and the combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro – especially among professionals – is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface, like this. It seems like a new review recommending Surface over MacBook comes out daily. This makes our team so proud, because it means we’re doing good work

It’s not exactly clear which Surface variant Microsoft is talking about, as both the Surface Pro and Surface Book compete with the Macbooks on all aspects. What is clear, however, is that the experience offered by the Surface family is one that now resonates more with consumers and professionals alike more than ever.
