Microsoft today announced the acquisition of Datazen Software, a leader in mobile business intelligence and data visualization on Windows, iOS and Android devices. Datazen will be part of Microsoft’s Power BI strategy to help organizations create a data culture with easy-to-use, accessible tools to extract maximum value from data – from anywhere, on any device. Datazen technology and solutions will not replace Power BI, instead it will complement Power BI, Microsoft’s cloud-based business analytics service. In the future, Microsoft plans to integrate Datazen technology with Power BI to give our customers another hybrid bridge for their on-premises investment to the cloud.
Message from Datazen CEO:
It is my pleasure to share that Datazen Software has been acquired by Microsoft. Our entire product team is thrilled to join Microsoft and help empower millions of people through mobile data analytics. I’d like to take a moment to reflect on how we got here and explain what this means for our customers, partners and our team.
Three years ago, we set out to create a dream BI product. Our goal was to strike the right balance between power and simplicity, while providing a flawless experience on the next generation of devices. Our ambitions went beyond a laundry list of product features; we wanted everyone to enjoy and look forward to using Datazen as a part of their daily routine. It is incredible how much effort and attention to detail is required to produce a single human emotion. But when it happens – it is truly worth it.
In practical terms, our customers and partners will be pleased to learn that the entire Datazen product stack – server, publisher, and all mobile clients – will continue to be available in their current form. Datazen is positioned as a mobile BI solution for customers who need a solution that is implemented on-premises. As such, it will complement Power BI, Microsoft’s cloud-based business analytics service. Our team will continue to develop and evolve the product. We have an exciting roadmap and are really looking forward to bringing new features to market. We’ll share more information on how these products will be integrated into Microsoft’s offerings at a later date.
I would like to thank all of our employees, investors, customers and partners who helped us reach this important milestone. We are looking forward to the road ahead!
