June 3, 2025 – Google introduced a new feature in Drive called ‘Catch Me Up’, designed to help users quickly identify recent changes in their files. This tool utilizes Gemini to provide concise summaries of edits and comments in Docs, Sheets, and Slides since the user’s last view.
Users can access this feature directly from the Drive homepage, where a prompt labeled ‘Catch Me Up’ appears. Clicking this opens the Gemini side panel, displaying a summary of significant changes across various documents. For individual files, an activity indicator signals updates; selecting it reveals specific modifications made since the last access.

This functionality aims to streamline the process of tracking document changes, especially in collaborative environments. By highlighting key updates, it reduces the need to manually sift through version histories or extensive comment threads.
The rollout of ‘Catch Me Up’ began on June 3 and is expected to reach all eligible users within 15 days. Currently, the feature supports English and is available to subscribers of Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Gemini Education and Education Premium, as well as Google One AI Premium users.
To utilize ‘Catch Me Up,’ users must have smart features and personalization enabled. Administrators can manage these settings through the Admin console, ensuring their teams benefit from this new addition to Google’s productivity suite.
