Remember the Halo TV series that was “absolutely still in development” as of half a year ago? We’ve finally received some new information! It’s not much, but anything is better than nothing for a project that’s seemingly been in development hell.

A post over on Halo Waypoint explains that in partnership with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, they are bringing aboard two more experienced storytellers. Showrunner Kyle Killen (Lone Star) and director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will now be collaborating on the project as well.

Now I’m sure everyone mainly wants to hear about a release date, but unfortunately we’ll have to wait a little longer. 343 head of transmedia Kiki Wolfkill did, however, reveal that the Halo TV series in currently in pre-production over at Showtime, with plans to go into full production sometime next year. Showtime has ordered ten episodes.

Place your bets now as to whether you think we’ll be playing Halo: Infinite or watching Halo on Showtime first.
