Remember the Halo television series announced way back in 2013? It’s not dead. Which is pretty much what everyone involved has been saying for the past 5 years though nothing has ever come to fruition. Effectively, despite assurances from Showtime, it’s in development hell.

TV Guide caught up with Showtime bosses at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour happening right now and asked how development of the live action Halo series was coming along.

“[It’s] still in very active development,” Showtime President and CEO David Nevins said. He would not provide any more details or comment further, though he did say that he’s seen scripts.

Gary Levine, president of programming at Showtime, said that the Halo series “is absolutely still in development, still moving forward and I’m encouraged by what we’ve seen so far.” He continued with, “It’s still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”

Halo fans certainly deserve better than this, and this news probably won’t comfort people who have been hearing the same things repeated for years. At this point, we’ll likely see Halo 6 release before the television show ever premieres on Showtime, so I wouldn’t hold your breath for it.
