Today is the day. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is finally launching. The hotly-anticipated first-person shooter hit arrives on Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms on October 25 after a successful beta period.
And gamers are loving it despite a few hiccups here and there, marking the first Call of Duty game to launch on Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft’s successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard. IGN has even given it a high score of 9/10, Forbes says it’s an “absolute blast,” although PCGamesN says PC gamers are impacted by crashes.
Despite rumors of 300 GB required storage for installation, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 only requires 128 GB for a full install on PCs and around 85 GB for Xbox and PlayStation. It is normal for games released in recent years, but even then, Xbox has let you cherry-pick which mode of the game you want to download
And, as Microsoft is betting big on cloud gaming, many folks are wondering when Black Ops 6 will appear on its cloud service. The game will be available on the Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM UK timezone, but it’s already available on other platforms like the Nvidia GeForce Now.
In mid-November, the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone will also integrate with Black Ops 6, introducing a new Resurgence map and the game’s Omnimovement system. You can get the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass to play Black Ops 6 from Xbox or Windows PCs (and yes, it’s not the newly launched Standard tier).
