Key notes

  • Microsoft launched Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23612 for Dev channel users.
  • There’s a new MSN-powered weather widget on Windows 11’s lock screens, among other things.
  • Those in the Canary channel are also getting their own build.

It’s that time again for Windows insiders. This time, Microsoft launched Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23612 for Dev channel users.

In this build, the Redmond-based tech giant is slapping an MSN-powered weather widget on Windows 11’s lock screens, among other interesting tid-bits.

Take a peep at how it looks like below:

Honestly, it looks pretty slick. When clicked, it seamlessly launches Microsoft Edge and displays the full weather forecast in MSN Weather. This functionality is automatically enabled regardless of your chosen lock screen setting, but it can be easily disabled within the Settings app if you want to.

Microsoft has been going all out in slapping AI features here and there on almost every app, feature, and functionality, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this experience will be packed with AI.

Recently, Microsoft revamped the moniker of its mobile Edge app to “Microsoft Edge: AI Browser” on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, as if it’s trying to accentuate that this is the best AI-supported browser on the market.

Those in the “hot-off-the-presses” Canary channel are also getting their first build of the year. It’s Build 26020, and it’s worth checking out.
