May 19, 2025 – WhatsApp has pushed a new beta update to both Android (v2.25.17.7) and iOS (v25.16.10.71). The highlight? A new feature that lets users star channel updates, giving them a better way to manage important posts.

On both platforms, users can now star individual channel updates, either by long-pressing them on iOS or by tapping a star icon on Android. The app then moves these updates to a dedicated starred section, making them easier to revisit later.

Users can access starred updates through the channel info screen or from a global starred section in the app’s settings. That section now combines both starred messages and channel updates into a single view.

If someone unfollows a channel, WhatsApp will automatically delete any previously starred updates from it, helping users keep their saved content tidy.

WhatsApp is rolling this out gradually, so not all beta users will see the feature right away. Both versions are live through the Google Play Beta Program and TestFlight.
