Plex rolled out an update to its Xbox app this week, lighting up HDR support for users of the app this week. While it was unclear if the update did indeed add HDR support to the app (presumably due to users of the OG Xbox One trying and failing to activate this feature

In a statement to Windows Central, Plex confirmed the update:

Plex supports display mode switching, which includes HDR and refresh rate switching… The added option for display mode switching means that Plex will choose the best display settings to match your content. We’ve also added HDR support for Xbox One S and One X.

So there you have it. Should you have an Xbox One X, or an Xbox One S, HDR on your device should now be supported by Plex. As older Xbox Ones do not have HDR funcinality, even if your TV supports it you’ll still be unable to use Plex for the Xbox One.
