Snapchat is trying to capitalise on its position as one of the major social media apps with an event invite feature. Users will be able to create events on Snapchat and share them with other users, similar to platforms like Facebooks. When this feature debuts, users will be able to instantly create and/or join a group chat with others for the event when they swipe up on the event invitation.

Unfortunately, that’s all we know about this new feature, and as it is not yet been announced by Snap, we likely won’t learn more for months yet.

Snap is also rumoured to be building in music integration features to rival Instagram, even as Instagram itself leaps forward by allowing users to embed lyrics into their stories. If only Snapchat could steal Facebook’s long-term relevance as well.
