Samsung announced the Galaxy Home a year ago, but its release has been delayed until the “mid-second half” of this year.

In a recent statement, the company have confirmed that the smart speaker is still work in progress:

We’re continuing to refine and enhance the Galaxy Home prior to launch, and look forward to sharing more with Galaxy fans soon,

Last year, when Engadget tested Bixby at CES, Samsung stressed that this version of the Galaxy Home doesn’t fully represent the experience that’s to come with the finished speaker.

Their criticisms included the voice being unnatural, though it was able to successfully perform all requests, including playing music and recommending local restaurants.

While it may only be minor tweaks that need to be made, the small improvements would be what potentially gives Samsung the upper hand over other competitors– Amazon, Google, Apple and Sonos.
