As we approach the launch of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One, some early retail copies have been popping up that indicate the game’s install size.
With complaints that Xbox doesn’t have enough high quality exclusives, the company scored a major win in securing the release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on console. PUBG quickly took Steam by storm and dethroned Dota 2 as the game with the highest number of concurrent players of all time. It’s this success that Xbox hopes will carry over to the console.
According to retail copies of the game, placeholder cover art indicates that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will need “up to 30GB storage required.” This number is subject to change. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will release into Xbox Game Preview and is constantly being updated, so much of the size could just be overhead planning for potential future updates.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds also requires up to 30GB on PC, however its actual install size is only 8GB. It could be a similar situation for the Xbox One version, or there may be differences between the two that require different install sizes. Still, developer Bluehole insists that both experiences will play the same and one will not be inferior to the other.
As announced earlier, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to get Xbox One X enhancements at a later date. It will feature HDR support at launch with 4K resolution implemented down the road once the textures are finished.
PUBG is coming to Xbox Game Preview on December 12, 2017. You can currently pre-order it at the Microsoft Store for $29.99.
