During a Mixer livestream at Paris Games Week we have finally received a launch date for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One. Aaron Greenberg and PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene, made this highly anticipated announcement as well at detailed the enhancements that the game will receive on Xbox One X. If you just can’t wait to play it on Xbox, you can preorder it right now.
The popular battle royale comes to Xbox Game Preview on December 12, 2017 and will feature HDR support for Xbox One X upon launch. Greene stated that 4K resolution will be added at a later time once the textures are finished.
In addition, the developer said that the console and PC versions will eventually reach parity, so one experience will not be inferior to the other. According to feedback the team has received, the controls on an Xbox controller feel good and they are the same between keyboard and mouse.
The Xbox Game Preview version will include squads and the new desert map that just released on PC, however the desert map will need to be tested more on PC to iron out the bugs before it is brought to console. Xbox Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra has revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will cost $29.99 at digital and retail.
To celebrate its launch, the developer has also collaborated with Xbox to create three limited edition cosmetic packs only available as standalone offers for a limited time exclusively for Xbox gamers. There are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version. These packs are: the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack. Pricing will be shared at a later time.
