Obsidian are beloved for their amazing, in-depth RPGs, and with recent Microsoft backing, they should be making high-quality games for years to come.

Their new game, The Outer Worlds, was just announced during The Game Awards. It looks like a cross between Fallout and Borderlands with an interesting new environment on the edge of space.

Geoff Keighley and Obsidian teased the game’s announcement last week with the tagline, “Worlds Will Change.” While initially thought to be linked to an Aliens game, it turned out to be just the tagline for the award ceremony.

Published by Private Division, The Outer Worlds will presumably be Obsidian’s final multiplatform title before they move to Xbox One and PC development only.

The Outer Worlds launches on Xbox One, PC and PS4 next year.
