Nearly a month ago, Mixer announced that the company was investing in more ways to help streamers monetize their channels. One way Mixer aims to do this is with a new program called Direct Purchase, allowing viewers to buy a game that a person is streaming directly from their channel page. Direct Purchase was previously in testing and will be rolling out to Mixer partners within the next few days (via Mixer).
The company detailed a bit more about how this feature will work.
“When a streamer activates Direct Purchase, their viewers will be able to buy the game or DLC they’re streaming right from their channel page. The entire purchase happens within Mixer, without having to leave the stream to complete the transaction. Once purchased, the digital content is automatically added to the buyer’s Xbox or Windows 10 game library where they can then download at their own convenience. No separate codes or tokens required. At launch, streamers will earn 5% for every purchase that happens on their channel. Remember – you’re supporting your favorite streamers by purchasing games through Mixer!”
Every game that is in the Microsoft Store will be available to purchase. Streamers will have the ability to promote the base game, a deluxe edition, or individual content packs like DLC. These selections can be adjusted in the “Manage Channel” section of the Account Settings.
Direct Purchase will roll out widely across the platform in the coming months.
