Microsoft Edge for Android has added the ability to lock InPrivate tabs, but there’s a catch: once you enable the feature, you can’t disable it, yet.

At least, for now.

The option to lock InPrivate tabs was first spotted in the Canary, Dev, and Beta versions of Edge for Android, as first discovered by the browser’s insider @Leopeva64

When enabled, users are prompted to enter a PIN or use biometric authentication to access InPrivate tabs that were interrupted.

This feature is a welcome addition for users who want to add an extra layer of security to their browsing activity. However, it’s also a bit of a headache that there’s no way to disable it once it’s been enabled.

Oddly, Microsoft has not yet implemented a way to disable the InPrivate tab lock feature in Edge for Android. Chrome, a competitor of Edge, has a similar feature, and the option to disable it is located in the Settings > Privacy and Security menu.

However, this option is nowhere to be found in Edge.

If you’re not sure whether you want to use the InPrivate tab lock feature, maybe it’s best to avoid enabling it. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck with it for good.

Microsoft has been looking to enhance the security of Edge for mobile devices. The company is reportedly working on-device encryption, which would make it more difficult for unauthorized users to access data stored on the device.
