Google to Invest Whopping $7 Billion to Expand AI and Cloud Growth

Google will invest $7 billion in Iowa over the next two years to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure and scale up local workforce programs. The announcement marks the company’s biggest acceleration in the state since it began investing there in 2007.

The plan includes a new data center in Cedar Rapids and a major expansion of the Council Bluffs facility. Google also partnered with the electrical training ALLIANCE to grow Iowa’s electrical workforce pipeline by 95%. This helps supply labor for energy infrastructure linked to the company’s massive data operations.
