There have been some good WP7 exclusives like ilomilo, but Tentacles takes it to a new level and is something that could make your fellow iOS and Android friends jealous!
Overall Score: 5/5
Tentacles’ unique and intuitive controls combine with its fantastic gameplay to create an experience that delivers on all levels.
Gameplay: 5/5
I have never felt more in control and connected with a game’s character as I do in this game. The character’s tentacles feel like an extension of my own body. Navigating through the complex levels feels natural and satisfying. The control scheme is probably the most interesting part of the game! The gameplay is also very awesome though! Each level has unique challenges, ranging from spinning spikes to boss battles. The gameplay is kept even more exciting thanks to the points bubbles you can collect, which multiply if you collect them faster. Also, there are speed and damage challenges, which force you to move through a section fast or survive a section without being damaged in order to win one of your three gold stars. The developers nailed the gameplay and produced a spectacular exclusive title.
Presentation: 5/5
The visual design is great, and the over-the-top 3D looks fantastic. The textures aren’t even a distant cousin of Crysis, but the game still looks good and runs really smooth. The music also sounds great, and the sound effects are awesome. Each time I hear my creature dying, I cringe thanks to the fantastic sound design.
Lasting Value: 4/5
Playing through the game once will last about two or three hours, but there is plenty of replayability left. You can replay levels to try and score 3/3 gold stars on each, or replay to receive a higher score and beat your friends on Xbox Live. The game would have to last longer initially to score higher, but it is still pretty good as is!
