Forza Horizon 4 is an open world game with a destructible environment set in the UK countryside, where (especially around Wales) sheep outnumber people.
Just as it would not be in Microsoft’s interest to let you mow down pedestrians, for humane reasons sheep are to be similarly spared, with the task up to developers Playground, who, according to Mark Brown on Twitter, did an excellent job.
He posted the video below, which demonstrates convincing sheep AI car avoidance techniques that really does make you feel like a frustrated homicidal maniac on wheels.

While some commentators have noted that it is easier to code super-speed into sheep than convincing blood splatter, I am sure that is not the reason for Forza’s humane treatment of these virtual animals.
