The v8.30 patch for Fortnite, containing the highly awaited respawn feature in the form of the Reboot Van, is due out on April 10th.
The size of the patch, however, is way bigger than usual. It ranges from the still quite large 1.14GB to the massive 7.7GB. Platforms and their patch sizes are listed below:
- PC: 6.93GB
- Mac: 7.7GB
- PlayStation 4: 3.9GB
- Xbox: 4.06GB
- Switch: 3.93GB
- iOS: 1.14 – 1.76GB
- Android: 1.56 – 2.98GB
Epic say that if your mobile device has less than 6gb of space, you’ll need to re-download Fortnite entirely.
It’s currently not known what the patch contains, but we can assume it’ll be something quite big.
Fans are hoping that the patch will revert the changes that were previously added in the v7.40 patch before being removed in the v8.20 patch.
The v7.40 patch for Fortnite added Pop-up Cup settings to the game, but these settings were reverted with the v8.20 patch.
The changes in the v7.40 patch were as follows:
- 50 Health (or Shield) based on your health when elimination occurs.
- 50/50/50 materials dropped on elimination.
- 500/500/500 cap on materials.
- Harvest rate increased by 40%
Epic said that the reason they removed the changes in the v8.20 patch was because of ‘an unhealthy level of aggressive play’. Despite this, fans still seem to be eager to get the changes back, especially as the majority of replies to every single Fortnite tweet are just “revert”.
Downtime for the patch begins tomorrow at 5am ET/10am BST.
