Cyberpunk 2077 is the most anticipated game of 2020 for most people, but it appears the title will become even bigger after its release.

Just like developer CD Projekt RED’s prior game, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk will see huge DLC expansions in the future.

Talking to Prima Games, thanks VG24/7, UI coordinator Alvin Liu confirmed that after the game is finished and shipped, the team will begin work on the expansions.

“We are talking about expansions in the future,” Liu said. “We want to make sure everything’s complete, but we also want to build open worlds. I know when I was playing The Witcher 3 and I finished everything, I still want to know what everyone was up to. I think we’re going to have opportunities like that as well for Cyberpunk 2077.”

Just like with The Witcher, CD Projekt’s number one goal as of now is to provide a strong and complete core experience for players. Unlike other AAA games, missions won’t be cut from the base game and sold back to players for additional monetization.

“We’re not withholding content,” Liu said. “We’re not withholding story for the future to try to… sell it in pieces or anything like that. You’re going to get the whole, full-value game here.”

If there’s ever been a developer to trust for sizable DLC, it’s CD Projekt. With both of The Witcher 3’s expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the developer has proven that they can make worthy expansions for their players. In fact, Blood and Wine may be one of the greatest expansions ever made.
