Mixed Reality ISV 360World has developed software for the Microsoft HoloLens which is aimed at bringing the air traffic control industry into the 21st century.
Their Clairity HoloTower application would let users simply looking at an aircraft or ground vehicle and see real-time information such as callsign, altitude or speed and turn on a virtual, 3D, full-scale visualization of aircraft or even the entire airport to see what the fog is hiding, all while still letting users continue to see and interact with the environment around them.
It would also let users set up a customizable workspace around them with virtual monitors making controllers more productive.
The app relies on real-time processing of Asterix and ADS-B data, multiple PTZ and 360 cameras, 3D airport model and map data, meteorological data input, and is of course Windows Mixed Reality compatible.
360World showed off their technology at the World ATM Conference in Spain earlier this month. Read more about their apps at their website here.
