At MWC 2019, Sony today announced its latest flagship device, the Xperia 1. The stunning 21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display and a pro-quality triple lens camera system are the two main highlights of this device, read about them below.

21:9 CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display:

For a real cinema feeling, the Xperia 1´s 6.5” 4K HDR OLED display has the same aspect ratio (21:9) as the cinema. Sony collaborated with CineAlta professional imaging engineers to reproduce colours as directors intended. Sony has included BRAVIA TV technologies in this device to enhance the viewing experience. The X1 for mobile engine brings BRAVIA 4K upscaling and HDR remastering technologies allowing you to enjoy content with more contrast, colour and clarity. Also, the Xperia 1 has a 10 bit equivalent display (8 bit with 2 bit smoothing) that can display a myriad of colours without banding. The display supports wide colour space ITU-R BT.2020 as well as DCI-P3 with Illuminant D65.

Triple lens camera:

The Xperia 1’s rear camera setup consists of three 12MP lenses: 16mm for wide landscapes, a versatile 26mm lens and a 52mm lens telephoto shooting (35mm equiv.). Sony has included technologies from its popular Alpha camera lineup in this device. This new BIONZ X for mobile image-processing engine brings new RAW noise reduction, Eye AF (Auto Focus) and 10FPS AF/AE (Auto Focus and Auto Exposure). Also, the Dual photo diode technology will allow fast auto focus in low light conditions. The Xperia 1 can record in 4K HDR videos and the unique hybrid stabilisation system (Optical SteadyShot) – combining optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation simultaneously enables you to record smooth videos.

Improved audio experience:

Sony has partnered with Dolby for improved audio experience in this device. The Dolby Atmos tech included in this device creates an amazing audio experience with multi-dimensional sound. The Xperia 1 also supports High-Resolution Audio and DSEE HX.

Like every other 2019 flagship, the Xperia X1 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, 6GB of RAM, 128GB UFS memory with support for expansion, and 3330 mAh battery. Sony Xperia 1 will be available from late Spring 2019 in select markets.
