You'll soon be able to play Fortnite on Arm-based devices, thanks to Epic & Qualcomm collab

Epic and Qualcomm are joining forces to make Fortnite available for Windows PCs on Arm-based Snapdragon processors. The process includes Windows on Snapdragon support as part of Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) solution, a required component for ensuring Fortnite compatibility with such PCs.

Easy Anti-Cheat gets support for Snapdragon CPUs

The arrival of Windows 11 Arm-powered laptops, particularly those with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series chips inside, changed the PC world. However, most PC games are designed with x64 architectures in mind, which introduces compatibility problems in Windows on Snapdragon devices. Anti-cheat technologies like EAC, which relies on x64, require additional tooling to be effective on Arm-powered laptops.

Hundreds of today’s multiplayer games—including Fortnite—rely on Easy Anti-Cheat to counter hacking and cheating in multiplayer PC games. In addition to releasing Windows on Snapdragon anti-cheat support for Fortnite we will bring this support to developers through an Epic Online Services SDK release. This will enable developers using Easy Anti-Cheat to bring this compatibility to their own games.

By using EAC support for Windows on Snapdragon, Epic Games aims to facilitate other games’ integration of this technology. This will enhance the gaming experience on Arm-based Windows devices, with users able to enjoy their favorite EAC-supported games on the latest Snapdragon-powered devices.

Although no release date has been announced, Epic Games will roll out Fortnite for Windows on Snapdragon hardware later this year. The action closes one of the significant app compatibility gaps for Windows on Arm, potentially paving the way for other game developers to begin optimizing their titles for these PCs.
