Microsoft is introducing a major new API for Microsoft Edge which allows for simplified payments on the web. The new API is coming to Edge with the upcoming Creators Update. Microsoft recently added the new Payment Request API to Edge which integrates with Microsoft Wallet in Windows 10 to offer a simple purchasing experience on the web. The new Payment Request API isn’t very popular yet, and it’s unlikely you will be able to use it on a mainstream website such as Amazon anytime soon.
Microsoft is bringing the Payment Request API for UWP developers with the upcoming Creators Update as well. This means UWP developers will be able to integrate the new experience into their Windows 10 apps, and that will make buying things on Windows 10 apps a lot easier. In a blog post today, Microsoft explained how UWP developers can integrate the new Payment Request API into their UWP apps and it’s pretty straight forward from the looks of things.
As the Payment Request API lets you buy things using the payment methods that’s already set up on your Microsoft Account, paying for things is also really easy. The new Payment Request API is going to be immensely useful for developers who build apps that lets you buy things, and it will also make the purchasing experience a lot more seamless for consumers.
Windows 10’s Payment Request API is coming to all users with the upcoming Creators Update, and that’s set to arrive in April. Developers will need to implement the new API in their apps using the upcoming Creators Update SDK, and you can find more info regarding it here.
