WhatsApp has just made it harder to keep an eye on your ex or crush without being noticed. Previously you could see someone’s WhatsApp status without sending a read receipt if you switch off Read Receipts.  You could then switch on Read Receipts again and no-one would be the wiser.

Now following an update, WhatsApp will send out the pending Read Receipts as soon as you reactivate them.

There is however a workaround, but it is rather onerous.  If you keep the Read Receipt off long enough for the Status Update you were viewing to expire (ie around 24 hours) no Read Receipt will be recorded.

Of course, it may just be even better to just Let it go, let it go…
