Microsoft Teams is getting a new feature to let you personalize your background during meetings using AI. The “Decorate” feature is now available in Public Preview for Teams Premium users, allowing you to choose from various themes and generate different background options.

With Decorate, you can blur your background, add fun and festive overlays, or even completely replace your background with a different image. This can be a great way to make your meetings more interesting and engaging, and it can also help to protect your privacy if you don’t want people to see your real-life surroundings.

How to use the Decorate feature:

  • Before a meeting, go to the pre-join screen and select Effects and Avatars > Video Effects> Decorate.
  • Choose a theme and click Generate Backgrounds.
  • Pick a background, click Apply, and save the background.
  • Go to More > Effects and Avatars > Video Effects> Decorate during a meeting.
  • Choose a theme and click Generate Backgrounds.
  • Pick a background, click Apply, and save the background.

Have Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted Release to access certain features. Additionally, you’ll need a Teams Premium license and the latest Teams client for Windows or macOS.

IT administrators can enable Public Preview, while global admins can enroll the entire organization in Targeted Release.
