ChatGPT on WhatsApp

OpenAI is finally making ChatGPT on WhatsApp a lot more useful.

The Microsoft-backed company, which is currently building the ambitious $500 billion Stargate project, says that it adds the ability to upload images when asking questions and talk using voice messages.

Though, it may still not be as advanced as the humanoid voice mode assistant on ChatGPT on the web and its apps.

OpenAI also promises that you’ll soon be able to link your ChatGPT accounts, whether on Free, Plus, or the $200/month Pro so that it won’t limit you as much.

OpenAI launched ChatGPT on Meta’s WhatsApp some time ago. That’s 1-800-ChatGPT for you in the US (can also be done via landlines and flip phones) or +1-800-242-8478 internationally.

But at launch, we couldn’t help but notice that there were still some limitations. Unlike Meta AI, which supports media processing and creative content generation, ChatGPT on WhatsApp still cannot analyze images, videos, or documents and has restricted messaging capabilities. Well, at that time at least.

Meta AI, on the other hand, has been available on WhatsApp and Instagram for quite some time now. You can identify it by a colored ring icon in the chat list, and it’s powered by Meta’s Llama language model and Bing for real-time web search when it first launched.

Though, Meta has made it clear that it wants to reduce reliance on Bing. So last year, the Facebook parent company started developing an AI-powered search engine to reduce reliance on Google and Bing for its Meta AI offering.
