Amidst the Marketplace search ordeal, I noticed that the official Twitter app disappeared from the Marketplace today.

Looking further into why Twitter could have disappeared, Marketplace reviews of the Twitter app (still accessible by deep link) reveal that users have been unable to log in. Some people haven’t been able to log into the app for at least the past month.

However, I personally haven’t had any issues with logging in. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app, I am still able to log in.

The Twitter app hasn’t seen an update since June 29th, 2012, meaning that it’s certainly due for an update.

Why do you think the app has disappeared from the Marketplace? Did Twitter decide to hide the app until they release an update in order to avoid an even lower average rating? Or is this just a fluke in the Marketplace? Or something completely different? Tell us what you think in the comments below!

Update: Twitter is back up in Marketplace search results, along with some improved search results in general!
