A handful of games release on Xbox One every week, ranging from AAA titles to lesser-known indie games. Xbox Wire compiles many of these releases, but misses a few and does not give any recommendations. Here are some of the games coming out the week of March 26 through April 1 that we think you should check out. It’s a quieter week helmed by the release of Far Cry 5.

Far Cry 5

Set in the fictional town of Hope County, Montana, Far Cry 5 follows a radical cult hell-bent on controlling the townsfolk through whatever means necessary. Led by preacher Joseph Seed. Eden’s Gate terrorizes Hope County to the point of rebelling. As the county’s sheriff’s deputy, it’s your job to help those resisting take down Seed. Far Cry 5 will be Xbox One X enhanced with 4K resolution and HDR support.

PixARK

For real this time! It was included in my roundup last week due to a clerical error in Xbox Wire’s post, but it’s actually launching into Xbox Game Preview on March 27, not the 23rd. Like its title suggests, PixARK is essentially a mash-up of Ark: Survival Evolved and Minecraft. It combines Ark’s survival simulation aspects with voxel-based graphics reminiscent of Minecraft. PixARK is set to feature over 100 different creatures that can be tamed around its procedurally generated maps. A creative mode will also be available for players to relax and build whatever they want.

Alteric

Alteric is a 2D platformer featuring minimalist graphics. Its gameplay isn’t for the faint of heart and it is designed to be brutal and challenging, taking place in two interconnected parallel worlds full of dangerous bosses. It only costs $4.99 so if you’re looking for a cheap title to test your platforming skills, this one is for you.

Trove: Heroes

If you’re looking for an even cheaper game, it doesn’t get any better than free-to-play. Trove is a voxel adventure MMO akin to Minecraft. You and your friends are free to explore its massive world and build realms of your own or go off and battle enemies in its dungeons. Trove: Heroes adds a new metropolis, boss, and Vanguardian class to the game.

Space Hulk Ascension

Space Hulk Ascension is a 3D turn-based strategy game with new mechanics that build upon the classic board game. You’ll lead a small force of Space Marine Terminators in a fight against vicious aliens set aboard ancient vessels in space. It features over 100 missions spread over three campaigns. [Edit: According to Major Nelson, Space Hulk Ascension originally released in February but for some reason it may have been pulled from the store. It’s now releasing again next week.]

Bonus: X-Morph: Defense – European Assault

I didn’t want to ruin the title ‘top 5’ but only six games are releasing next week so I decided to highlight them all and include the sixth as a bonus. X-Morph: Defense – European Assault is an expansion for the tower defense game X-Morph: Defense. The story takes place parallel to the action in the main game, this time focusing on the European front.

If any of these look like they may interest you, give them a shot and try them out for yourself.
